About Joy Cleaver, LMT, yoga instructor
I have been licensed and practicing massage therapy since 2003. I have been practicing yoga asana since 1997. At first yoga was a way for me to recover from a back injury due to a car accident. At the time I was a gymnast and I needed a way to maintain strength and flexibility during my recovery.
Yoga became an important tool for me as a young adult as I struggled with the transitions of life and my own anxiety. Today, yoga remains a key part of my lifestyle, helping me to maintain balance and awareness. Yoga plays a large role in my self care, which helps me in all aspects of my day to day life.
I love to share my knowledge of asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and mindfulness. I have often called yoga "self massage". It's true that yoga is a tool which will build body awareness as well as calm your nervous system and create a general sense of balance in your entire being.
I have studied many styles of yoga including vinyasa, power vinyasa, hot yoga, restorative yoga, and yoga therapy. I studied with Baron Baptiste, Integrative Yoga Therapy, and Sarahjoy Marsh. I like to integrate an active flow with alignment and breath awareness, offering plenty of modifications, enabling you to find the power of subtlety in your practice.
In this class I adapt the instruction and practice of yoga to each body in a safe, comfortable way. We use chairs, blocks, blankets and other props to make yoga suitable for everyone. I believe yoga can be accessible to everyone no matter where your body is in any moment. This class is great for beginners or those facing physical restrictions from injury or chronic pain.

MELT Method with Erin Brown
Do you want to learn a new system of self-care to ease chronic pain and tension on your own?
Join massage therapist Erin Brown and try out the simple tools and simple rules of The MELT Method.
You will learn how to use acupressure balls to treat your hands and feet, and a soft foam roller to gently treat everything in between. These tools, together with your awareness and breath, provide just the right amount of pressure and stimulation to help keep your body's internal support system healthy and buoyant.
This support system is known as connective tissue, and it is primarily made of water. It is like a webby sponge in which all the cells, tissues, organs, and vessels live. It depends on water to stay fluid and supple, to deliver nourishment and remove waste, to repair and restore, to allow for internal communication, and to keep you stable, balanced, and moving with ease.
Reconnect, rebalance, rehydrate, and release your connective tissue with MELT!
Group classes are held on
